Ruth is respendently passionate -- and encourages others to be so, too. Sometimes confidence is learned, and she believes in working together to build something great. Ruth specializes in musical expression. Described as having a "Renaissance Soul", Ruth pursues many interests related to the arts and athleticism. A dancer since the age of four with experience in Ballet, Bellydance, and Ballroom, creating movement through individual efforts or a group can feel enlightening and is greatly worth sharing.

 

Spiritually, Ruth practices Christian Druidry, believing in the communion with nature and animal spirits, the honoring of heritage and ancestors, and the enchantment of everyday life. She publicly advocates positive psychology, which is primarily concerned with using the psychological theory, research, and intervention techniques to understand the positive, adaptive, creative, and emotionally fulfilling aspects of human behavior.

 

Her scholastic pursuits included studies at the Universty of Delaware, New Eden School of Natural Health and Herbal Studies, and SomaVeda College of Natural Medicine. Her ongoing education consists of yoga and druid philosophy, personal training / personal fitness, and nutrition & holistic wellness approaches.

My focus is to empower, educate and motivate positive changes in clients' lives using dance as a tool. I believe that dance is a transformative language through which a deep expression of individual and collective stories and empowerment can emerge.

 

I offer classes and workshops in contemporary and traditional foundations, as well as other forms of dance and movement classes including conditioning for dancers and cultural dance classes of diverse backgrounds.

Thai Yoga Therapy

I study Thai Yoga within the SomaVeda College of Natural Medicine, located outside of Tampa, Florida. The slow, purposeful movements of this ancient touch therapy with SomaVeda® techniques immediately resonated with my dance practice. I felt that I had discovered a way to work with my body that also allows people to become better physically, spiritually, and energetically. During my sessions, I feel that I am guiding my client through a meditative and restorative dance of healing -- for both the client and myself -- involving myofascial stretching, joint mobilization, soft tissue manipulation, rhythmic rocking, acupressure, energy balancing, meditative breathing, and assisted yoga postures.

The benefits of healing the body through touch are traditional to nearly every culture. Somaveda Thai Therapy provides specific physiological and psychological benefits ranging from treating chronic pain from past injury to alleviating tension from a busy lifestyle.

Pole Fitness

Having been emerged in the world of arts from the age of 4, beginning with ballet, tap, and jazz, I bring ten years of instruction and competition to my teaching with concurrent yoga, ballroom dance, and fitness pursuits. I believe in movement as both a healing art and as a form of personal expression. There is a strong focus on correct alignment and form. Variations for poses and sequences allow for all levels to find an appropriate balance of challenge and comfort while developing inner awareness.

 

No matter what shape, size, age, or skill level... everyone supports each other and becomes a family. It is important that the ladies taking a pole class feel comfortable with their bodies and external interpretation of who they are inside. If there is any way to help improve your self-awareness and confidence, I will strive to get you there.

Nutrition Counseling

Today I am proud to say that I live by a different philosophy than I have in the past. My health is a lifestyle and no longer a fad. Changing was difficult and felt lonely at first. I found myself looking for information that would outlive my diet binges. I discovered that eating on purpose could be fun and even more exciting than eating whatever my brain was programmed to react to. It didn’t take long at all before I found myself naturally attracted to ways of life that inspired me to be the best me possible! Not only did my eating habits change but my activities and social circle began to look a little different as well. Good healthy energy will attract the same! I’ve become a student in the study of myself. The journey has led me to helping others along the way and finding great satisfaction in seeing others succeed. Living a healthy lifestyle is infectious and sharing it is so much fun.

Yoga

I teach classes in a non-competitive environment to students of all ages and levels looking to build strength, flexibility, and proper body alignment. My down-to-earth approach allows students to feel comfortable, regardless of experience or physical ability.

 

I have spent the past few years of her life deeply involved in studying the arts of yoga, massage therapy and a variety of healing techniques. I practice daily, with an emphasis on Vinyasa yoga and Ayurveda. Classes move through poses using breath, body, spirit, and compassion.
